John is a skilled, experienced and accomplished strategic performance leader with over 40 years of experience.
As a career railwayman, he initially became a railway civil engineer; then transitioning through contracts and legal management, project development and delivery, customer interface, people and transformation, and performance leadership. In each of these, he delivered key projects and outcomes, many in complex circumstances and sometimes quite mis-aligned objectives from customers and stakeholders. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Railway Operators.
Most recently at Network Rail, John led performance management through a generation; guided effective investment in performance funding; delivered whole industry (including government and regulators) collaboration and engagement in improving train performance; and authored performance.
